Søreide: – Attacks on journalists are unacceptable

“I’m glad that Kadafi Zaman has been released. The UD has worked hard with this case,” said Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide.

Søreide said in a statement Monday night, the same day as the TV 2 reporter was released on bail in Pakistan.

– “Attacks on journalists are unacceptable and do not belong in a democracy. It is important that Pakistani and foreign journalists freely and independently report on the election in Pakistan. Norway condemns the abuse of all journalists, such as the use of violence or threats, to curb their freedom and independence,” said the Foreign Minister.
