Spain’s accident commission will be included in the investigation of the accident and salvage KNM Helge Ingstad after the Spanish shipyard,Navantia, had received part of the debt.

‘’They have made it known when they want to participate. We are now working on designing a cooperation agreement.I expect that they are concerned about Navantia’s role’’ said department director,Dag S.Liseth,of the Norwegian Accident Investigation Board to Bergens Tidende newspaper.

The Spanish Accident Investigation Board showed interest as a result of a warning from the Armed Forces about a serious construction defect that
caused sections not to be waterproof. Navantia built the frigate.

The Armed Forces have said that they do not rule out legal steps or claims against Navantia as a result of the alleged error.

The frigate KNM Helge Ingstad has been in the Hjeltefjorden in Hordaland after it collided with the oil tanker,Sola TS,on Thursday 8th November.
