Last year, commissioning permissions were granted for the construction of almost 30,000 homes. That is a decrease of 5% compared to 2019.

According to Statistics Norway (SSB) figures, that is the lowest number of commissioning permissions since 2014.

Despite the fact that Viken had a decrease of about 9% compared to 2019, significantly more commissioning permissions were granted there than in the other counties.

“Viken clearly issued the most commissioning permissions for housing construction in 2020. With 9,788 commissioning permissions, more than three times as many permissions have been granted in Viken as in the next county on the list,” Jens Mathiesen at the SSB noted.

Trøndelag is in second place with 3,115 commissioning permissions.

There are big differences between the counties. While there has been an increase of almost 30% in Agder, both Vestland and Troms and Finnmark have experienced a decrease of around 20% in the number of commissioning permissions granted last year.
