Public transport registered 265 million fewer passengers last year, a decrease of 38% from the previous year.

The decline is due to the coronavirus pandemic and changed travel habits that occurred after March of 2020, Statistics Norway (SSB) states.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, there were 82.8 million fewer passengers compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

The decline was most significant for bus transport.

Ticket revenues were NOK 8.5 billion last year, preliminary figures show. That is a decrease of almost NOK 6.8 billion from 2019.
