A total of 27 corona-infected people have been registered in Stavanger in the last 24 hours. That is six more than on the same day last week and eight more than the weekly average.

Five of the infected have an unknown source of infection, while 18 are close contacts of infected people, the Municipality noted.

This is the highest daily number of new cases in Stavanger since January 12. On Monday, 16 infected people were registered.

One of the people who were confirmed to be infected on Tuesday is employed by a housing organization for the elderly. Eight residents and two employees have been quarantined as a result of the infection.

“All residents are fully vaccinated, so if they become infected, it is unlikely that they will become seriously ill,” infection control chief Ruth Midtgarden noted.

A total of 1,676 cases of infection have been registered in Stavanger so far during the pandemic.
