The Labor Party’s (AP) leader Jonas Gahr Støre wants to know what will happen to the government’s reopening plan if the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is taken out of the picture.

“What is the Prime Minister’s plan B?” Støre asked Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) in the Norwegian parliament (Storting) on Wednesday.

He pointed out that only a week ago, Solberg presented the government’s reopening plan. Already on Friday this week, the first step in the new plan will take effect.

But then came the news that deliveries of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine were delayed due to fears that this vaccine may have the same problems as the AstraZeneca vaccine, in connection to rare blood clots in combination with low platelet counts.

Delays in vaccination?

“This can lead to a sharp delay in vaccination,” Støre pointed out.

Solberg, for her part, pointed out that the large deliveries of the Janssen vaccine had not been expected until June.

At the same time, there is hope that warmer weather can help reduce the pressure of infection, according to the Prime Minister.

“But we have to keep a clear and distinct focus on infection control,” she said.
