Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) believes that stricter measures are necessary to stop the spread of corona infection in Norway.

“The situation is serious. The spread of infection is too high. And we have to take measures to limit that development,” Støre told NTB.

He noted that the new infection control measures would be adjusted already this week.

These measures will interfere with people’s everyday lives, he warned. Nevertheless, he made it clear that it would be possible to celebrate Christmas.

Controlling the infection through the winter

Støre says the goal now will be to control the infection through the winter.

“That has two purposes.

“One is to avoid the health service becoming overloaded in a way which would affect the work it has to do, both in the hospitals and in the municipalities.

“The second is to ensure that the social and economic burden does not become greater than necessary.

  1. Do be hard on any virus.
Australia is waiting too long, apart from Queensland,
    Western Australia and Tasmania.
Even masks aren’t compulsory in many places.
