Four out of five Norwegians are positive about the continued use of face masks in the country, a new survey shows.
Figures from the Norwegian Corona Monitor survey from Opinion show that support for face mask use fell by 2% from April, to a total of 78% in May.
“Most people have used face masks to an increasing degree, but now the trend may be reversing,” senior adviser Nora Clausen at Opinion noted.
The figure is still far higher than in May last year, when one in three Norwegians said they were positive about face masks. That was before the authorities recommended the use of face masks.
About 40,000 Norwegians have been asked whether they are positive or negative about wearing face masks in Norway.
Recent figures from Opinion also show that 39% are worried about becoming infected. The proportion is at the same level as the average during the entire pandemic.
