In a short time, the Finns seem to have become supporters of NATO membership, a recent survey shows.

A total of 61% of those polled support membership in the Alliance, while 15% oppose it. The rest did not take a position on the case, according to a survey conducted for the agricultural newspaper MT.

The numbers are about the same as the ones reported by broadcaster Yle a week ago. 62% answered that they were in favor of NATO membership and 16% were against it in the Yle survey.

The increased Finnish support for NATO is due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Finnish news agency STT reports.

The survey was conducted by Kantar TNS Agri between March 11 and 16. More than a thousand people responded to the survey, and the margin of error is 3%.
