Stavanger University Hospital (SUS) is gearing up to be able to coronate 1,000 people a day by the start of May.

– “We are preparing for a huge increase in test capacity. If everything goes according to plan, we can test 1,000 a day over the next four weeks,” says CEO Inger Cathrine Bryne at SUS to Stavanger Aftenblad.

Lack of reagents and consumables to analyse Coronavirus samples has meant that test capacity has been limited around Norwegian hospitals lately.

– “Thus we have not been able to analyse more than a few hundred samples a day. The fact that we can increase capacity so much now is really positive news,” says department chief Iren Høyland Löhr at medical microbiology at SUS.
