Suspected bomb at US embassy construction site
Around 250 people were evacuated from the building site of the new US embassy at Huseby in Oslo on Tuesday after a suspious object was found in a container.
– Construction workers found a suspicious object in a container and decided to evacuate themselves, said operations manager Christian Krohn Engeseth of Oslo police.
Police were alerted at 10.54am on Tuesday of the situation. The Police bomb squad used a bomb robot to examine the object.The container stood inside the cordoned off area of the building site, but outside the building that will house the new US Embassy in Oslo.
A police operative unit leader confirmed there was no bomb to NTB news agency.
– The situation is now clarified. The Bomb squad has defused an object and the barriers are now lifted.
