The police bomb squad arrived at Drammen police station on Monday afternoon to secure the premises after three suspicious envelopes were delivered to the station.

The bomb squad arrived at the police station in Drammen at 4:20 PM and started working to secure the site by retrieving three suspicious envelopes, section leader Jan Dystland in Drammen police station told news bureau NTB.

“Something just wasn’t right. The envelopes looked strange and had text and names on them that made the person who should have opened them suspicious. The person decided not to open the envelopes. It was a wise decision,” Dystland said.

Three envelopes

Dystland was notified of the three envelopes at 2:30 PM on Monday.

“We do not know the contents of the envelopes,” the section leader added.

Initially, it was reported that the shipment contained white powder, but that was a misunderstanding, he emphasized.

The six-story police station will remain evacuated until the bomb squad has finished its work.
