A woman died in a snowmobile accident on the Longyear Glacier, Svalbard, on Sunday afternoon.
A helicopter was sent out to the accident site at 3 PM, the newspaper Svalbardposten writes.
“There has been a serious scooter accident. The person who drove the snowmobile was subsequently confirmed dead,” Kjell Arne Lundin told the newspaper.
According to Lundin, a woman died. The woman is said to have been part of a larger scooter entourage.
“The psychosocial (support) team has been notified and will take care of the relatives,” Lundin said.
