Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is planning to visit Norway on November 10.
The information was confirmed to news bureau NTB by sources on both the Norwegian and Belarusian sides.
If everything goes as planned, Tikhanovskaya will visit Norway on November 10.
However, the corona situation and travel restrictions could lead to changes in her travel plans.
The visit was confirmed after Tikhanovskaya held a digital meeting with Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H) on Wednesday.
Words of praise
On Wednesday, Tikhanovskaya praised Norway’s role in the political crisis in her home country.
“Norway is so supportive and alert to our situation,” she said.
Minister Søreide said that dialogue is still the only solution after two months of unrest that followed Belarus’s presidential election in August.
President Alexander Lukashenko officially received about 80% of the vote, but the opposition believes that he committed electoral fraud.
While Tikhanovskaya was in exile in Lithuania, there have been continuous mass demonstrations in the country.
