Swedish health authorities recommend that everyone aged 65 and older take a fourth dose of the corona vaccine.

The recommendation also applies to people between 18 and 64 years of age with moderate to severe immune deficiency, the Public Health Authority stated in a press release on Monday.

Previously, people over the age of 80 have been offered a fourth dose of vaccine against COVID-19 in Sweden.

The Swedish Public Health Agency justifies the decision with the fact that there is a significant spread of infection both in Sweden and other countries, in combination with the fact that vaccine protection is now beginning to decline in the relevant groups.

In Sweden, it has been almost four months since people over the age of 65 received the third vaccine dose. According to the recommendation, the fourth dose should be taken four months after the last dose.

For people with immunodeficiency, a new booster dose should be taken after three months.
