The Swedish Public Health Agency now recommends vaccination against COVID-19 for 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds.

In the past, the recommendation has been that young people down to the age of 18 should be vaccinated.

The decision to change the council was made during a meeting on Tuesday.

The recommendation also applies to children up to the age of 12 with certain medical conditions, the Public Health Authority’s chief Johan Carlsson and Minister of Education Anna Ekström stated at a press conference on Tuesday.
