The Swedish corona vaccine rollout is going well in all regions, the municipal and regional association SKR announced on Friday.

“Based on the Public Health Authority’s forecasts for deliveries, it seems that we can keep the current (vaccination) pace this summer as well,” Marie Morell, who heads SKR’s health delegation, noted.

She also said that it was too early to completely relax, even if the infection is on the way down.

“We must continue to persevere and ensure that we do not get an increase in infection,” she noted.

Delta variant

The Swedish Public Health Authority says the sharp decline in infection is in line with the most optimistic forecasts from May. Still, there are some unknowns ahead.

“By that, I think, first and foremost, of the so-called delta variant, also known as the Indian mutation. It is found in Europe and Sweden,” the Authority’s director Johan Carlson warned.

“Considering the different variants, it is important that everyone who has been offered a second dose takes it,” he said.

Morell asks people to try to stay home and be available to take the second dose of vaccine in the same place where they received the first.
