All people over the age of 80, those who live in care homes, in nursing homes, or receive home care, will receive a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Sweden.

The information was announced by Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallgren (S) at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Those who are in need will get the third dose first,” Hallgren said.

In Sweden, half of the regions have already started administering the third vaccine dose to people with severely compromised immune systems.

In August, the Swedish Public Health Agency also said that people in risk groups – such as residents of nursing homes, people over the age of 80, and people with weakened immune systems – would be able to receive the third dose during the autumn.
