From December 21, Sweden will require a corona certificate for people traveling from the Nordic countries to Sweden.

“Norwegians are welcome to Sweden, but must then follow the same restrictions at Christmas that apply in Norway,” Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Andersson (S) said on Thursday.

“We see an increasing spread of infection in Europe, but also in our neighboring countries. In Sweden, we now have a requirement for a corona certificate for entry from all countries except the Nordic countries. Today, the government decided to have such a requirement for the Nordic countries as well,” she noted.

Message to Norwegians

In Norway, recommendations limit the number of people allowed to gather. There is also a national alcohol-serving ban in place.

Andersson says she expects Norwegians who travel across the border to also follow these recommendations in Sweden.

“I have an expectation that Norwegians, who are warmly welcome to Sweden, follow the recommendations,” she said.

Norway has much higher infection levels than Sweden, she pointed out.

“Do not move the party across the border,” she added.
