On Wednesday, a 47-year-old Swede was sentenced in Gothenburg District Court to three years in prison for giving information about two Swedish companies to a Russian diplomat.

He has been convicted of selling information about the companies Volvo Cars and Scania, where he worked as a consultant, to Russia.

His actions endangered Sweden’s security, the prosecution stated.

The 47-year-old denied all charges.

The 47-year-old was arrested in February of 2019 while eating dinner at a restaurant in Stockholm with a Russian diplomat, who is suspected of being an intelligence officer.

They are said to have met each other repeatedly over several years.
