A 49-year-old woman has been found guilty in Stockholm District Court of serious war crimes after she let her minor son become a child soldier for ISIS in Syria.

The son died during the war, 16 years old. He had been a child soldier since he was twelve years old.

This is the first time anyone has been convicted of a war crime related to the use of child soldiers in Sweden.

During the trial in Stockholm District Court, the prosecution filed a claim for at least eight years in prison.

The woman traveled to Syria in 2013. According to the prosecution, she did so on her own initiative. The woman claimed she was tricked into going there.
