Police believe two children were thrown from a balcony of an apartment in Stockholm. One of the children has died from the injuries.

The condition of the other child is still serious.

A 45-year-old man and a woman have been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. Both have a close relationship with the children.

The children, both under ten years old, were found by a person outside a block of flats in Hässelby, northwest of Stockholm, on Sunday night. The person in question notified the police at 9:46 PM.

“We believe that the children fell from a great height,” police spokesman Daniel Wikdahl said.

Found by passers-by

According to information from the newspaper Expressen and several other media, the man allegedly stabbed the children while they were lying in their beds and then threw them out of a window. After being found by passers-by, both children were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police have begun questioning witnesses and knocking on doors in the area.

“We have seized clothes, and the crime scene has been cordoned off,” Wikdahl said.
