A man has been shot and killed in southern Stockholm, Swedish police say. According to the newspaper Expressen, the man was a well-known Swedish rapper.

The police were notified of a shooting in Hammarby south of Stockholm at 10:50 PM on Thursday. A man was found shot and wounded. Police later said he died of his injuries and that his relatives had been notified.

On Friday night, the police used a helicopter in the search for perpetrators.

“There is information that one or two people ran from the place,” police spokeswoman Carina Skagerlind said.

According to Expressen, the victim is 19-year-old Swedish rap artist Einár. His full name is Nils Kurt Einar Grönberg.

Received threats

Several of his songs topped charts, and he has won awards at the Grammy Awards. According to Expressen, he has been exposed to threats for a long time.

Skagerlind says that several people have been brought in for questioning, not because they are suspects, but because they may be able to say something about the incident.

In 2020, Einár was involved in a sensational case, where he was allegedly abducted by a group of masked men who threatened him with a knife and stole his Rolex watch. He did not want to cooperate with the police and said it was just a PR stunt.
