Tegnell doesn’t want to give the Swedes a third vaccine dose at this point in time

Sweden’s state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell says there is no scientific evidence that giving a third dose of the corona vaccine to fully vaccinated Swedes will have any effect at this point in time.

Politicians in Stockholm recently said that parts of the population would receive a third dose of vaccine shortly, but according to Tegnell, it is too early for such a decision.

At the moment, it is much more important to vaccinate those who have not yet received a vaccine, he emphasized.

“In Sweden, we see no increase in the proportion of those who are vaccinated but still become infected. The number of such cases is constantly at a very low level,” Tegnell told the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

Tegnell pointed out that both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Agency for Communicable Disease Control (ECDC) share the same position.
