The Conservatives (H) want to get the Norwegian parliament (Storting) to demand that the new government present its future climate plan by the end of February.
On Wednesday, the Conservatives put forward their first proposals to the Storting as an opposition party after the Labor Party (AP) and the Center Party (SP) took over government power.
One proposal is a requirement that the government presents its announced new climate plan by the end of February.
“It is urgent for all the actors in society who will be involved in this enormous transformation of Norway to get predictability on the framework conditions,” Nikolai Astrup, new energy and environmental policy spokesman in the Conservative Party, stated.
Astrup referred to the Hurdal platform. There, the AP-SP government promised to “quickly prepare a new climate plan for the entire economy.”
Climate target
At the same time, the climate target for 2030 will be tightened to a 55% cut from 1990 levels.
“Here, it becomes extremely important that the government works quickly. It is a very short time until 2030,” Astrup said.
He also criticized the AP and the SP for not providing answers through the government platform.
“What is emphasized in the Hurdal platform is not how to cut emissions, but the exceptions that should be given, for example, on the CO2 tax,” Astrup told NTB.
