The government allows holiday travel throughout the Nordic region – but only to Gotland in Sweden

From June 15th, Norwegians can travel on holiday to all countries in the Nordic Region, but only to areas where the infection rate is acceptable, states Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H).

For Sweden, today only Gotland satisfies the requirements.

– I realize this is a big disappointment for some. But the restrictions are based on objective criteria that are the same for everyone, Solberg said at the government’s press conference on the Coronavirus situation on Friday.

“The government also warns against traveling to Copenhagen. The situation will be assessed continuously, and the map of permitted areas will be updated at least every fortnight,” says Health Minister Bent Høie (H).

– “I hope that other areas in Sweden will soon have a controlled contagious situation that will allow travel to them,” he says.

  1. Since there is such variation in the number of new cases in different areas I have created a corona virus map for local areas in the Nordic region.

It is possible to zoom in to see boroughs in Oslo and Bergen. You can see the amount of new confirmed cases for the last day, week or month, compared to the number of people living there. The map also has the options to filter by selected age groups.

    The map is at https://koronakartet.no
