The government will uphold its anti-coronavirus measures in Vestfold and Telemark. Thus, a number of municipalities will have to continue to live with the strictest level of measures for a while longer.

Holmestrand, Horten, Tønsberg, Færder, Sandefjord, and Larvik wanted the measures to continue until April 11. In the Grenlands area, the municipalities of Bamble, Porsgrunn, Skien, and Siljan wanted to uphold the same level of measures until April 8.

“These ten municipalities want the government to continue level A measures – the strictest measure level that we have.

“The Norwegian Directorate of Health and the FHI support this wish. The government is therefore extending the measures,” the government wrote in a press release.

The Norwegian Directorate of Health stated that the situation is still unstable in these municipalities, and the British virus variant has been detected in 84% of the positive tests.

The state administrator will carry out a new assessment of all municipalities in the county on Wednesday, April 7. The purpose will be to assess the infection situation, the effect of the measures, and the effects of the increased mobility during the Easter holidays.
