The Norwegian government wants to block the websites of foreign gambling companies in Norway.

Minister of Culture Abid Raja (V) is using his last days in the government for a new attack on foreign gambling companies, Aftenposten/E24 writes.

According to Raja, the websites of companies such as Unibet, Betsson, and ComeOn should be blocked.

“These companies do what they can to circumvent Norwegian law. With blocking, we will be able to stop them,” Raja believes.

Parliamentary support

Such a proposal has been expected for some time now, as a majority in the Norwegian parliament (Storting) supported it in 2018.

“We will go as far as possible to get rid of these companies,” Raja added.

The Minister of Culture believes that a blockade will strengthen the Norwegian gambling monopoly, protect gambling addicts, and channel players to Norsk Tipping.

The PR manager for Kindred Group (Unibet) in Norway, Rolf Sims, says they want to read the proposal in its entirety before making comments.
