The Institute of Public Health asks the health service to prepare for a serious viral epidemic

The head of Iran's counter-coronavirus task force has tested positive for the virus himself, authorities announced Tuesday, showing the challenges facing the Islamic Republic amid concerns the outbreak may be far wider than officially acknowledged. The announcement comes as countries across the Mideast say they've had confirmed cases of the virus that link back to Iran, which for days denied having the virus. (AP Photo/Ebrahim Noroozi)

The Institute of Public Health considers that the risk of covid-19 spread in Norway is currently moderate, but asks the health service to prepare for a serious epidemic.

“Much is still unknown about this disease. We therefore plan for a wide range of scenarios for the future in Norway. If many people become infected, many will become so ill that they need health care. The health service and especially the hospitals can then experience an extra burden,” says Department Director Line Vold at the Institute of Public Health in a press release on Tuesday evening.
