The January 26 fire in the center of Hamar was caused by arson, police say

Three people have been charged in relation to the fire in Grønnegata in the center of Hamar on January 26. The police confirmed that the fire was started by arsonists, referring to forensic investigations.

The Innlandet police district, with the assistance of Kripos, carried out forensic investigations at the fire site.

At present, the police do not want to say anything about the cause of the fire or where the fire started.

“The three accused have been released, but they still have the status of accused in the case,” the police noted.

The police were notified of the fire at Grønnegata 34 in the center of Hamar at 10:54 PM on Wednesday, January 26. Around 50 people were evacuated from nearby buildings as a result of the fire. No people were injured, but two apartments burnt down. In addition, there was damage to an optician’s shop, a watchmaker’s shop, and a pub.
