Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide, Prime Minister Erna Solberg and King Harald will be present at the 75 year anniversary of the liberation of Finnmark.

Defence Chief Haakon Bruun-Hanssen and Commander-in-Chief of the Northern Fleet, Aleksandr Alekseevich Moiseev, are among those who will also participate. The same goes for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Ine Eriksen Søreide and Lavrov will attend a bilateral meeting, and the Prime Minister will host an anniversary lunch.

East Finnmark was liberated from German occupation in 1944 when Soviet soldiers arrived at Bjørnevatn on October 25th. From 23rd – 25th October, Finnmark county council and Sør-Varanger municipality will mark the anniversary, including a conference.
