The latest infection figures show that corona infection is on its way down in Norway. Still, the Norwegian Directorate of Health does not believe any significant easing of the measures will occur before the end of May.

According to newspaper VG’s overview, Norway has not had a declining infection trend since February 11, but now the trend is on its way down.

That does not mean that easing of the infection control measures will take place immediately.

“We will probably have to settle for fairly strict measures throughout April. We can perhaps hope for relief towards the middle or end of May if we manage to keep the infection rates low and the vaccination goes as planned,” health director Bjørn Guldvog told VG.

He believes it is too early to start thinking about any significant relief and describes the situation as fragile.

It is also expected that Easter will lead to an increase in the number of infection cases once the holidays are over.
