Justice Minister Jøran Kallmyr (FrP/Progress Party) fears the wave of violence in Oslo will spread to other cities, including through social media.

“My concern is that this will spread to other cities, via social media. It is an international trend to use it to show off,” says Kallmyr after a meeting with Oslo City Council leader Raymond Johansen and Police Chief Beate Gangås.

The three have discussed among other things the 11 unprovoked incidents that have been registered in Oslo this weekend. A total of 16 people have been arrested.

“We think this weekend’s events are completely unacceptable. We know that many people try to raise their social status by practicing violence and using social media,” says Kallmyr.

  1. If police force are maximised and also a soloution as to why voilice is occuring, as well as people getting banned of social media if they behave in that way. Then it should reduce. Hopefully.

  2. I think is necessary to have many policemen in the streets, just to discourage violence.
