From Saturday, vaccine passes will be required at restaurants, sports conventions, and cultural events in the Netherlands.
The measure is introduced at the same time as a number of other measures are discontinued due to lower infection and high vaccination rates. Among other things, the rule of keeping a distance of one and a half meters of distance is repealed.
Although restaurants, bars, cafes, stadiums, and theaters can now operate at full capacity, anyone over the age of 13 must provide proof that they have been vaccinated, have had COVID, or have tested negative.
However, the new rule generated opposition. Some restaurant owners say they do not want to check vaccine passes due to a lack of employees, and a group of vaccine opponents has announced a protest at The Hague on Saturday.
According to the polls, one third of the Dutch believe that the measures limit their freedom, while a third support them.
