The first doses of the anti-COVID medicine Xevudy (sotrovimab) have been approved and have arrived in Norway this week.

“A purchasing agreement has been entered into between GSK and Southern and Eastern Norway Hospital Trust, and the first doses of sotrovimab have arrived in Norway this week,” the pharmaceutical company GSK stated in a press release on Thursday.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) recently granted market authorization for the medicine for the early treatment of COVID-19. Based on this approval, a Norwegian market authorization has also been granted, it is further stated.

Early treatment of COVID-19 can be an important measure to prevent vulnerable patients from developing a serious course of the disease.
