The new, more contagious coronavirus variant has been found in 33 countries

According to the New York Times, the new, more contagious virus variant that has spread in the UK has now been discovered in 33 countries.

The number rose to 33 after the discovery of 15 people infected with the new variant in Turkey on Friday.

British authorities believe the new variant of the coronavirus appeared in London or Kent in September. 

It has 23 genetic changes compared to the common variant of the virus and is believed to be 70% more contagious.

In addition to the United Kingdom, the variant has now been detected in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, the United Arab Emirates, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, China, Lebanon, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Germany, and the United States, according to the American newspaper.
