The government wants to give the hospitals an extra financial package of NOK 1.5 billion to keep capacity up during the pandemic.
The Minister of Health and Care Services, Ingvild Kjerkol (AP), announced the news in her hospital speech on Tuesday.
“We will do our part so that the hospitals are able to withstand the pandemic this winter,” she said.
The funds should cover higher costs as a result of increased preparedness levels and infection control measures, as well as increased costs for overtime and hiring due to sick leave and quarantine among employees.
