Norwegians who live in areas affected by a coronavirus in China are encouraged to register. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to map the situation.

Several European countries are now offering assistance to citizens located in Wuhan or elsewhere in Hubei Province, China.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes in an email to NTB that they encourage Norwegian travelers to register on reiseregistrering.no, so that the Norwegian authorities can reach them with updates on the situation.

– Norwegian citizens are not obliged to inform the Norwegian authorities about travel and residence abroad, so we cannot say for sure how many Norwegians are in the area, the ministry writes.

– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring developments closely and assesses the ongoing need for any measures, it further states.

Danish authorities said on Monday that they are trying to get out 13 Danes staying in Hubei province.

– “We are doing everything we can to get the Danes out. Unfortunately, this is not so easy, because the area is closed to limit the risk of infection,” says Erik Brøgger Rasmussen, director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ‘Citizens’ Service in Copenhagen.

Nor does Denmark have a complete record of how many of the country’s citizens actually reside in the area, but so far they have registered 13.
