The number of corona patients admitted to Norwegian hospitals is down to almost half of what the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) estimated a couple of weeks ago. Now, the FHI is cautiously optimistic.
On Wednesday, 232 corona patients were hospitalized in Norway.
According to the newspaper Aftenposten, the estimate two weeks ago was that the hospitals would have around 478 admitted corona patients on November 21.
The newspaper writes that the growth in infection has stopped among the very oldest, which affected the development.
Department director Line Vold at the FHI says that the number of hospitalizations and infections does not seem to be rising as sharply as expected.
“It leads to cautious optimism, but it is too early to conclude whether this is a lasting trend,” she said.
