This year’s pollen season is underway, especially in Western Norway. Over 1 million Norwegians are allergic to pollen.
The Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association (NAAF) is now encouraging people who suffer from an allergy to start using preventive medication this week. The NAAF will start its daily national pollen alert service as early as next week.
“People who suffer from allergies should pay close attention to the pollen warnings these coming days,” pollen analyst Hallvard Ramfjord at the NAAF warned in a press release.
He emphasized that it is important that those who need to take preventive medication do so now in order to get the optimal effect.
According to the NAAF, this year’s pollen season will be average, based on current indications.
“It is worth pointing out that even an average pollen season puts notable strain on people who suffer from allergies in Norway,” Ramfjord said.
