There is a lack of prison places in Trøndelag, which means that Trøndelag Police District has had to send inmates to other prisons.

In August, inmates were already sent to other prisons, the newspaper Adresseavisen writes.

“It takes a lot of extra resources to transport (inmates) to other places in the country,” police lawyer and head of department Sunniva Tronvoll at the Felles Straffesaksintak (FSI) at the Trøndelag Police District stated.

As of Tuesday this week, 187 convicts in Norway were in the prison queue nationwide, according to the Norwegian Correctional Service.
