The Socialist Left Party (SV) wants to increase the number of refugees from Afghanistan who will receive residence permits in Norway. The Conservatives (H), the Labor Party (AP), the Progress Party (FRP), and the Center Party (SP) oppose the notion.

“Now Canada says that they will receive 20,000 people. We should agree on a number that we will receive,” SV’s Karin Andersen told the newspaper VG.

She did not want to say an exact number.

FRP wants to support those who collaborated with Norwegian forces in Afghanistan

FRP’s Jon Helgheim, the party’s immigration policy spokesman, says the FRP wants to protect those who have worked and collaborated with Norwegian forces in Afghanistan.

“Furthermore, it is not surprising that the SV wants to use every opportunity to increase the number of immigrants in Norway,” Helgheim said.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) and Labor Party (AP) leader Jonas Gahr Støre do not want to change the number of quota refugees coming to Norway.
