The stricter corona measures in a number of municipalities in Western Norway will be continued, but they will also be somewhat eased.

Ulvik will remain at the strictest level of measures. Eidfjord and Voss will maintain the current measures until the situation is clearer.

Last weekend, strict corona measures were introduced in 15 municipalities in Western Norway as a result of outbreaks of mutated viruses.

The most stringent measures affected the municipalities of Bergen, Ulvik, and Kvam. The measures were initially supposed to last until Sunday, February 14.

Less strict measures for Bergen?

City Council chief Roger Valhammer (AP) in Bergen held a press conference on Friday morning where he asked the government to relax the measures for Bergen.

Among other things, he wanted leisure activities for children and young people to reopen, primary schools and kindergartens to return to the “yellow” level, and restaurants to be open.

However, he wanted the alcohol-serving ban to remain in place.
