The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has so far managed to provide supplies to the most vulnerable people in Ukraine but warns of challenges.

In total, emergency food supplies now reach 1 million people in Ukraine, but many still live on an empty stomach. Many adults don’t eat so children can get food, the WFP warns.

Despite major problems with security, food supplies have nevertheless been managed. Among other things, 330,000 fresh pieces of bread have arrived in Kharkiv, and two humanitarian columns have managed to reach Kharkiv and Sumy despite the conflict in the area.

Several food shipments are expected to arrive in Ukraine in the coming days. The WFP has pretty much built up the whole operation from scratch – they had no presence in Ukraine a month ago.
