So far this year, 871 new charging points for electric cars have been built along the roads in Norway. The number of fast charging points has thus reached 5,000.

“Queuing at the charging point is one of the things that frustrates electric drivers the most. More chargers mean fewer queues, so this is good news for electric drivers,” secretary general of the Electric Vehicle Association Christina Bu stated.

According to the association, it is likely that the annual record of 971 new charging points in 2020 will be broken.

Innlandet county has the most significant percentage increase in charging points so far this year (it’s at 44.5%). The smallest increase has been registered in Finnmark and Møre og Romsdal. Finnmark has an increase of 6.5%, while Møre og Romsdal has an increase of 7.3%.

“The number of charging points must be seen in connection with the number of electric cars on the roads in the relevant county, but in order for people to be able to drive electric cars throughout the country, it is important to have charging in every nook and cranny of Norway,” Bu added.
