This year’s New Year’s baby was born at the Nordland Hospital in Bodø 13 minutes past midnight.
– “It is fun. After all, it is always great to be at work, but extra good to be at work today and welcome new year children,” says midwife Sigrid Vollheim to NTB. She was one of three midwives who welcomed the boy.
Twenty-three minutes later, at 00.36, a girl came into the world at the same hospital.
Several hospitals have also welcomed New Year’s children just past midnight, NTB’s annual call round to the country’s maternity wards shows.
At Ullevål Hospital, a child came to the world at 00.18, one minute before a girl was born at Rikshospitalet.
In Lillehammer, two twin girls were born at 00.52 and 00.53, while St. Olav’s hospital welcomed a boy at 1.08.
