Three new cases of coronavirus in Hyllestad, mayor asks government to take action

Hyllestad Mayor Kjell Eide (AP) asked the Norwegian government to take action after three more people at the Havyard shipyard tested positive to the coronavirus.

“There are serious consequences, and then you have to ask if the rules are too soft,” Eide told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

Hyllestad municipality closed the shipyard on Friday after the infection tracking showed that all of the cases could be traced back to the yard.

About half of the 400 employees at Havyard are hired labor from abroad.

A total of 35 people are infected, and over 500 are in quarantine in Hyllestad, according to NRK. 

A total of 39 are infected in the shipyard. The remaining cases are related to the Høyanger municipality.

On Monday, three new cases of infection were confirmed in Hyllestad.
