Three men have been arrested in Trøndelag after they threatened the police in Steinkjer with a bat on Sunday night.

A man threatened the police patrol with a bat during a search of a home in Steinkjer on Sunday night, newspaper Adresseavisen writes. The police perceived the situation as threatening, so they drew weapons against the man.

“The patrol then chose to draw weapons and threaten the man to make him put down the bat,” operations manager Wenche Johnsen in Trøndelag Police District explained.

She says that the patrol quickly got control of the situation. Three men, two in their 20s and one in their late 30s, were arrested and placed in custody after the incident.

The police are currently temporarily armed based on the current threat assessment from the Police Security Service (PST).
