The government tightens cruise traffic after an outbreak of the virus on the Hurtigruten, The Minister of Health, Bent Høie (H), informs.

-”We will be temporarily tightening cruise traffic to stop infections by Corona virus. The background is the situation on Hurtigruten.”, said Høie at a press conference.

He says that the authorities will prevent ships, that have more than 100 people on board, from docking in Norwegian ports and allowing passengers and crew ashore.

-”We have to take these necessary measures to stop the spread of the virus in Norway. We are doing this now while we investigate what happened during the outbreak aboard the Hurtigruten.”, said Høie.

He said the government is looking into the need for changes in the current regulations.

The restrictions will apply for 14 days, according to Høie. They do not include other ship and ferry operations.
