Thursday may be the wettest day of the year in several parts of the country. In Vestfold and Østfold, an orange danger warning has been issued for torrential rain.

“Heavy torrential rain has been observed in the coastal areas in the Outer Oslo Fjord, and an orange danger warning has been issued,” the Meteorological Institute reported on Twitter at 8 o’clock on Thursday.

The danger warning is valid until noon, and lightning and thunder have also been reported in several parts of the region, including Sandefjord, Moss, and Fredrikstad.

“If the rain showers hit urban areas, there may be trouble with surface water on roads and basements filled with water,” on-duty meteorologist Martin Granerød told news bureau NTB.

According to the meteorologist, there can be up to 15-20 millimeters of rain per hour.
